3. Working out floorspace for the new shop on Cosy Island

cdd_floorplan_marble_001.jpgYesterdayI worked out the floor which i then textured with a white with grey fleck marble texture.

Cosy Founders Garden

I didn’t use all the available ground for the new shop and left a fairly big triangle for a garden; possibly a ‘Cosy Founders Garden’. Geoffrey Steinbeck and myself also discussed it with Tully Trescotrick participating in the background in rl as Geoffrey’s rl wife. So they both approvred of the ‘garden idea between the shops’.

Cosy Island community & continuity

I love the idea and practise of continuity of our sim as a community and the people who added their creativity to shape it from its initial stage when it was only a baby sim quite unformed.
The team effort then nearly a year ago shaped its hills, lakes, beaches and parcel limits but also its rules for building and behavavior.
All this directed and administered by our Cosy Chief, Melina Loonie, who makes sure that our sims fees are paid to the Linden Labs ® every months, ; so thanks to her for securing our avatars happy surroundings on Cosy Island.

Idea for the ‘Cosy Founders Garden’ layout

The idea is that we have a garden near the ‘Beachpavillion’ with 2 flower boxes with ‘Paradise bird’ plants, a bench with a couple sit pose and 2 single sit poses and a mural with tributes to all our Cosy Island Founders: Melina Loonie, Angel, Dianne Mechanique, Garnet Psaltery, Myrrh & Pacifien Massiel….did i forget someone???
I can just see my SL friend and collegue, Sudane Erato, lifting up her shoulders in disbelief…:). How could I forget her? …my sl building mentor and friend-in-spirit.

Setting the floor

The floor for the new shop now follows the property lines. I am busy counting the prims I use as I am working on this.
The rest of the work is on paper in my rl kitchen beside my bread cooking book.
I have a fairly good idea of what to make and my idea is to make the entrance impressive and practical and in line with the other buildings in our Cosy Island village.
This new building will connect the old and the new. The ‘old’ is the ‘Beachpavillion’ build by Myrrh & Pacifien Massiel and the new is our ‘new village centre’.

2. Working out the shop building versus the land

1. Buying new shopland on Cosy Island

•September 15, 2006 • 3 Comments

Today I have asked our Chief, Melina Loonie, to set aside a piece of land in the village for the new ‘Carpe Diem Design’ shop.
If you look at the header of this blog you can see the all the village shops and of course our famous Irish pub the ‘Dancing Dolphin’.
This village was build as a team by Sudane Erato, Geoff Steinbeck and myself, Mizou Vavoom. The very first unit of the renewed ‘Cosy Island’ village was the blue and white shop (more about the textures of that shop at a later date!) which was remodelled by Sudane to make the other 3 bigger units.
Geoff then worked with myself & Sudane on the building of the pub, all the while our resident Angel and Melina supervised the proceedings and encouraged us.

Part of the village land had been set aside for months to be used as shop land and 2 of those parcels are left: #Possible shop 5 & 6. It is right beside the beach and already contains a blue/white shop which i had designed earlier this year.

The very first ‘Carpe Diem Design’ shop is at the other end of the village.

Now that the land for the new ‘Carpe Diem Design’ has been set out and reserved the planning for the actual shop building on that land will commence this week end with pencil and paper.new land set aside in village It is such an awkward shape that it will take a me awhile to find some inspiration. Melina mentioned ‘Cosy Mall’ …hmmm maybe i could call it that and house ‘Carpe Diem Design’ in part of it, depends how much goods i will sell.

Anway, Melina rest assured that this building will bear the quality hall mark of our previous builds on Cosy Island…..:)

I have 2 lives: twice the responsibility then again for my pleasure i have twice as many friends and most of all, it gives me the opportunity to speak the 3 languages I am fluent in, French, Dutch and English and that in the course of anyone day.
So, where is this Second Life®? And where is my first one?

My first one is in a village between the mountains and the Irish sea and my second one is also in a village between the mountains and the sea. So, you ask yourself if I have enough money to have 2 houses? Not so, one is in the everyday world of reality the other one is on a virtual plane on a server pr a simulator or sim.

The name of my real residence is my business :) and the name my virtual residence is ‘Cosy Island’ in Second Life®. I absolutely love both places for their natural surroundings and tasteful buildings and dwellings.

Cosy Island is nearly one year old and it comprises 4 sims, ‘Cosy Home’, ‘Cosy Cove’, ‘Cosy  Shire’ & ‘Cosy Kays’ but it looks like one island with a village and a few shops in the middle and of course a pub and dance hall near the beach.

My avatars name is Mizou and i live on an island…
